Window Tinting

When is the best time for Window Tinting?

When’s the best time to get your windows tinted?

So you want to get the windows tinted on your car or home? Great! It has alot of great benefits. But when is the best time to get your window tinting done? Formula One By AES is here to let you know the best time to get your windows tinted.

Obviously, you don’t want it to be to hot or cold when you get your window tinting done. Heat can cause air bubbles when your installing the film. If it’s too cold, it will take longer to cure the film to the window. Summer and Winter are not good times to get a window tinting done. In winter, you may not even be able get any tinting done because it’s simply too cold. If you go to a shop that doesn’t have an interior facility these problems are compounded. Does this mean it’s impossible to get window tinting done during these seasons? No. If you go somewhere that has a climate controlled facility many of these problems can be alleviated. But these are factors that need to be considered if you can’t wait to have your window’s tinted. And obviously, if your getting the windows of a commercial or residential home tinted you’ll want to wait for the ideal time to ensure the window tinting goes down properly.

Since Winter and Summer are bad seasons to tint, fall and spring are the best seasons to tint. The combination of moderate temperatures and low humidity means the film will have the easiest time bonding to you windshield or window. In some places, the rainy spring season and hotter fall seasons can still cause problems but in general these are the best times to tint and shouldn’t cause any problems if installed on a mild day.

When is Auto Window Tinting Illegal?

So you want to tint your Auto’s windows, how dark can you go?

Tinting the windows on your auto can have many benefits. It can reduce the glare from the sun and reduce the heat that comes into your car. Some people also like the cool look it gives you. But beware, it might be illegal. It’s common knowledge that window tinting above a certain level is illegal, but the point where it’s actually illegal can get muddled. So, how dark can you go with your Window Tinting? Formula One by AES has a few answers.

It’s important to know that if your trying to tint your windows for the UV and heat-reduction benefits, most modern cars already have this kind of tinting on their windshields. So there’s no need to get any kind of tinting done if you’ve got a fairly new vehicle. Also, most professional installers, like Formula One, are aware of laws regarding tinting and can generally help you avoid any trouble with the law.

What makes window tinting so complicated is that the level of tint accepted is often a matter of the state you in. For instance, you can have darker tints in Arizona where the hot desert sun is than in Michigan where the sun is less extreme. Most laws center around the amount of light that is let into the vehicle. Reflective or Opaque tints are almost never accepted. The main point is that window tinting often makes it harder to see who’s in the vehicle.

If your unsure that the window tinting you have is legal or not, there are ways to check and make sure. You can take you vehicle to a state inspector or licensed professional to make sure your tinting is within state laws.

Types of Auto Window Tinting Pt. 2

More types of Auto Window Tinting

Formula One by AES has a couple of other window tints you may want to consider when getting the windows tinted on your car. We’ve already covered 2 options in last week’s blog, but here are 2 more options you may want to consider when getting window tints done on your car.

Hybrid Window Tinting: As the name suggests, this style of window tinting is designed to give you the benefits of Metalized and Dyed window tints, but none of the disadvantages. It consists of a sticky under-layer with a dyed and metalized layer on top with a protective layer on top of all of it. And it mostly accomplishes what is sets out to do. It blocks UV light and cuts down on glare from the sun. It doesn’t interfere with radio and cell phone waves like Metalized layers can. It’s at reduced risk of fading because of the metal layer. It also reflects heat very effectively. The only real downside is that it is more expensive than getting a dyed layer. Although it should be noted that this type of window tinting is often less expensive than getting a full Metalized window tinting.

Ceramic Film: The last kind of window tinting is Ceramic film tinting. As the name suggests, a thin layer of ceramic is layered between a sticky underlayer and a protective top layer much like the dyed window tinting. Ceramic tints allow for radio waves to pass through while also reflecting back heat and UV rays. They can cut down the glare from the sun and aren’t prone to fading like dyed tints. They are also far less reflective than metal tints meaning the window tinting will have that matte look most people are looking for. Cermic is however, the most expensive option. But it might just be worth it.

Those are the main kinds of window tints you’ll run into when deciding on how to tint your car’s windows. If you need any kind of tinting, give Formula One by AES a call today at 405-513-6400.

Types of Auto Window Tinting Pt. 1

The different types of Auto Window Tinting

Getting the windows tinted on your car can be a wise investment. Tinting your windows can cut the glare from the sun, making driving easier and saving your eyes alot of strain. They can also protect you and your car’s interior from damaging UV radiation from the Sun. But once you start getting in to deciding how dark of a tint you want you may start to realize that there are different kinds of window tinting. So which one do you pick? Formula One By AES is here to help you decide. Here are the different kinds of window tinting:

Dyed Window Film: This type of film is made of a dye pressed between a sticky bottom layer and a protective top layer. This type of tends to look really good and it doesn’t block radio waves. It’s also the most cost-effective type of window tinting. But, it can have problems if not installed properly and the layers can separate over time. Also, the sun can eventually break down the tint, changing it from black to a deep purple.

Matelized Window Film: This type of window tinting is made of several layers of adhesive and film. It’s very effective at blocking sunlight, blocking all but 10 to 40% of light. It’s also good for reducing heat as one of the layers is designed to reflect heat away from the car. Which also means this type of film is great for blocking UV rays. It’s extremely durable and doesn’t fade over time. However it is more expensive and it can block radio waves ( a problem for in-care antennas). It’s also very shiny, which is not a look most like when tinting.

Auto Window Tinting- Privacy

Adding A Little Privacy With Auto Window Tinting

One Good Reason For Auto Window Tinting

Have you ever stopped at a light and realized the guy next to you was staring at you the entire time? Have you ever come out of the grocery store to find some stranger peeking in your car windows? Have you ever felt the need to hide personal belongings under the seat of your car while going to the gym? We don’t think a little privacy is too much to ask, but you can’t tell everyone that. Whether you’re driving around or parked off road someplace you deserve to have something that will keep prying eyes off of your belongings. Auto window tinting is a wonderful choice for adding a little privacy to your ride.

Auto window tinting offers just enough darkness so that if someone is on outside looking in they won’t be able to see much. On the flip side of things, it’s also a very safe addition for drivers as it still lets in enough light to see what you’re doing when you’re driving around. This would be ideal for driving around in places that you may not be familiar with or if you happen to be driving in a questionable area of town.

Rather than trying to stash away all of your valuables when you park your car at a local grocery store, you can rely on high quality window tinting to shade the inside of your car. Does that sound like the kind of privacy you want?

If you’re in the market for auto window tinting consider FormulaOne by AES for your installation. We are known for our quality products and exceptional expertise. We also offer top of the line products with a fully-backed Nationwide Transferable Lifetime Manufacturer’s Warranty.

Reducing The Glare With Auto Window Tinting

Auto Window Tinting In Oklahoma

Have you ever been the first one to pull up to a traffic light on your early morning commute and realized that you couldn’t see the light, because the sun’s glare was blinding you? Even with sunglasses on the bright light can hit your eye line just right making it difficult to see beyond the glare. That can get tense when you’re trying to judge whether it’s your turn to drive simply based on the other traffic around you. No matter what season it is in Oklahoma, the sun is bound to be out and bothersome to drivers at some point. This is when window tinting becomes your best friend. You can reduce that nasty glare with just a little window tinting.

Of course, you do have to obey the Oklahoma laws. In our great state the darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). This percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window. Translation: Non-reflective tint is allowed along the top of the windshield above the manufacturer’s AS-1 line and all other windows with window tinting film on them must allow more than 25% of light in.

Luckily, we’re fully aware of what the law requires. Window tinting comes in various shades so we can provide the right one for you. Our auto window tinting is of high quality and we’re experts at installation so you’ll get just what you need! Furthermore, you won’t get any weird bubbling, either. What’s even better is that every FormulaOne installation is fully-backed by the Nationwide FormulaOne Transferable Lifetime Manufacturer’s Warranty.

With auto window tinting you won’t have to worry about trying to shield your eyes with your hand to block the sun, having a glare on your sunglasses, or doing the steering wheel jig as you lean to the left, right, stretching up, and crouching down to get around the glaring sun. You deserve to enjoy a safer, more comfortable drive during your morning commutes and we can help!
