Why should I hire a professional?

We all know summers in Oklahoma can be hotter than… a snowball in a dryer! There is always that one room with all the windows, and all the sun. Should you cut costs and just tint it yourself, or hire a professional?

Why should I hire a professional?

If you are a handy person, you might be anxious to tint you windows yourself. Sometimes, it can be fun to tackle projects you’ve never attempted, if you love the challenge. However, tinting windows isn’t  a recommended DIY project. Here a few of the issues that you can run into by attempting this project on your own.

  • Proper tools – Watching some online videos can make many projects look simple, but they never show the hours of practice. Most of the kits you buy require you to cut the film to the exact size, which is extremely difficult without professional tools. DIY kits can only be used once, so if you make a mistake, you will have to buy another kit.
  • Dirt – If you’ve ever swept a floor, you realize how difficult it is to remove 100% of the dirt line. If just one speck of dust is trapped under the tint, in can ruin the entire installation. This can leave wrinkles and bubbles in the film, compromising it’s appearance and functionality.
  • You get what you pay for – Event though these kits are much cheaper upfront, you will get what you pay for. You wouldn’t hire a plumber who has never lit a pilot light to fix gas leak would you? If we want a professional result, we need to hire a professional!

So if you’re looking at installing some window tint, the professionals at FormulaOne have the knowledge and skill to get the job done right.

Types of Auto Window Tinting Pt. 2

More types of Auto Window Tinting

Formula One by AES has a couple of other window tints you may want to consider when getting the windows tinted on your car. We’ve already covered 2 options in last week’s blog, but here are 2 more options you may want to consider when getting window tints done on your car.

Hybrid Window Tinting: As the name suggests, this style of window tinting is designed to give you the benefits of Metalized and Dyed window tints, but none of the disadvantages. It consists of a sticky under-layer with a dyed and metalized layer on top with a protective layer on top of all of it. And it mostly accomplishes what is sets out to do. It blocks UV light and cuts down on glare from the sun. It doesn’t interfere with radio and cell phone waves like Metalized layers can. It’s at reduced risk of fading because of the metal layer. It also reflects heat very effectively. The only real downside is that it is more expensive than getting a dyed layer. Although it should be noted that this type of window tinting is often less expensive than getting a full Metalized window tinting.

Ceramic Film: The last kind of window tinting is Ceramic film tinting. As the name suggests, a thin layer of ceramic is layered between a sticky underlayer and a protective top layer much like the dyed window tinting. Ceramic tints allow for radio waves to pass through while also reflecting back heat and UV rays. They can cut down the glare from the sun and aren’t prone to fading like dyed tints. They are also far less reflective than metal tints meaning the window tinting will have that matte look most people are looking for. Cermic is however, the most expensive option. But it might just be worth it.

Those are the main kinds of window tints you’ll run into when deciding on how to tint your car’s windows. If you need any kind of tinting, give Formula One by AES a call today at 405-513-6400.

Types of Auto Window Tinting Pt. 1

The different types of Auto Window Tinting

Getting the windows tinted on your car can be a wise investment. Tinting your windows can cut the glare from the sun, making driving easier and saving your eyes alot of strain. They can also protect you and your car’s interior from damaging UV radiation from the Sun. But once you start getting in to deciding how dark of a tint you want you may start to realize that there are different kinds of window tinting. So which one do you pick? Formula One By AES is here to help you decide. Here are the different kinds of window tinting:

Dyed Window Film: This type of film is made of a dye pressed between a sticky bottom layer and a protective top layer. This type of tends to look really good and it doesn’t block radio waves. It’s also the most cost-effective type of window tinting. But, it can have problems if not installed properly and the layers can separate over time. Also, the sun can eventually break down the tint, changing it from black to a deep purple.

Matelized Window Film: This type of window tinting is made of several layers of adhesive and film. It’s very effective at blocking sunlight, blocking all but 10 to 40% of light. It’s also good for reducing heat as one of the layers is designed to reflect heat away from the car. Which also means this type of film is great for blocking UV rays. It’s extremely durable and doesn’t fade over time. However it is more expensive and it can block radio waves ( a problem for in-care antennas). It’s also very shiny, which is not a look most like when tinting.

These are just some of the window tinting types for your auto. Join Formula One by AES next week for more window tinting types! And if you need and kind of Window Tinting, protective or decorative, call Formula One by AES today at 405-513-6400!

Two Story House- Energy Savings Window film

Saving On Energy Expenses In A Two Story House With Window Tinting Film

Window Film Helps With Energy Savings For Fall

Many homeowners have taken advantage of window film to beat the summer heat, but did you know that conserving energy can also be done in the fall months much in the same way?

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, up to 43% of a home’s utility bills goes to heating and cooling. When Oklahoma temperatures go from one extreme to the other, imagine just how hard your HVAC unit has to work in order to keep your home at a comfortable temperature. This is even more true for those that live in a two story house and have double the space to heat or cool. Homeowners of two story houses certainly could use a bit of extra help.

Luckily, companies like EnerLogic have come up with a practical window film solution. We’ve discussed this awesome window film in previous articles, but it is so worth mentioning, again! What makes EnerLogic so great is the provision of an energy saving solution without totally blocking sunlight from entering a home. The natural light can still stream in, making it possible to enjoy, without harsh glares or without soaking up harmful UV rays along with it.

In the winter time this window film helps contain the heat from the building preventing the need to overwork the heater. With just windows blinds or curtains you miss out on the ability to still have natural sunlight enter the home. Additionally with other window treatments, you still have to worry about a harsh glare of the sun and UV rays. Imagine being able to control the light streaming in without the harsh glare on your computer screens, your television, cell phones, or reflections off of mirrors.

Are you ready to start seeing energy savings this fall? To get your estimate on EnerLogic window film, please feel free to give FormulaOne by AES a call at 405-513-6400.

Commercial Window Tinting

3 Benefits Of Window Tinting For Commercial Properties

Window Tinting For Commercial Buildings

There are several benefits for commercial properties and buildings to install high-quality window tinting. The three main benefits include the provisions of; ROI, comfort, and privacy.

Return On Investment:

First of all, window tinting can reduce the heat transfer from the sun by up to 85%. That means that window tinting your office windows could save the operation money! A building with windows of any size will see a return on investment, because heat stays out and the air conditioner can be used less. You don’t have to wait to see the changes either, applying window tinting yields immediate and measurable results.

Comfort: Having windows in your place of business means that it’s prone to problems like hot spots, glare, and heat that causes fluctuating temperatures. Quality window tinting; however, provides up to 99% protection of Ultraviolet light as well as reduces glares up to 95%. Commercial window tinting helps regulate temperatures by decreasing heat transmission and glare, getting rid of hotspots means that your air conditioner doesn’t have to work as hard to keep that one spot at the desired temperature meanwhile making the rest of the building frigid.

Privacy: Whether you want a little buffer between the outside world and your shop or you need individual office space privacy, a quality window tinting job can take care of the issue.

***BONUS***: Yes, we said three benefits, but there’s more! *Insert Genius Laughter*

Windows on the outside of a building are usually the weakest point of the structure. A thick security window film will help hold the glass together if it’s shattered. This combined with a dark film can reduce the likelihood of burglary. FormulaOne by AES offers several different films to meet your specific needs. We also offer films that provide insulating benefits year round, so when the winter months come around you’ll be able to stay warm while spending less.
