Window Tinting: Why?

Why should you get window tinting?

We talk alot about the different kinds of window tinting you can get and how to use them in the most effective way. But we’ve never fully gone over why you should consider window tints. Well, there are many reasons. Here are just a few:

Efficiency: Window tinting can make your windows more efficient by helping control how much of the sun’s heat enters your home. Making it easier to control the climate in your home and lowering your heating and cooling bills. Window tints work in the summer by blocking the sun’s heat, but it can also keep heat from escaping in the winter. Your window tinting will always be working for you to keep your home more efficient.

Privacy: Much the way auto tinting can give you privacy while you drive, home window tinting can also provide you with privacy. Darker tinted windows can provide much indoor privacy but you can also get decorative window tinting that will let you enjoy your privacy in style!

Protection: Window films are applied by sandwiching the window between two tough layers of film. This has the added benefit of increasing the strength of the window. It won’t become bulletproof, but it will take more force to shatter a filmed window than a regular one. The film will create a barrier that keep the shattered glass from spraying out, much the way a car windshield protects the driver. A burglar will have a hard time smashing a tinted window in one go, and it’s more likely to scare them off if they can’t get in quickly. If you’re interested in the security benefits, there’s even some tinting, called security film, specifically designed with this in mind.

Large window tinting projects?

Window Tinting for large windows?

You want to get some window tinting done for all the windows in your home? Great! Window Tinting is one of the soundest and longest lasting investments you can make for your home. Not all windows are made the same though, and you might have a large window or glass sliding door. You might be wondering if the increased size will be a problem for the installers. Formula One by AES has the answers when it comes to big window projects.

First off, you can absolutely put tinting on a larger window. Size isn’t an issue when determining if window tinting would be a good idea. There are a few more steps to getting the tinting right on a larger window though.

Firstly, it usually requires the help of another person as the film is much too large for one person to handle effectively. Larger windows also need to be seamed, two films overlapping, because of the larger size. All the steps normally taken to apply a film to a window are also more laborious because of the size. It’s doubly important to make sure no air bubbles and leaks are present on larger windows because of the extra material and steps needed. It shouldn’t take much longer than a standard window though, especially when the job is being handled by trained professionals. Larger window tinting jobs can be more vulnerable to water as well, so special care needs to be placed on making sure it’s watertight. It’s a good idea to come back in about a week to make sure the window tinting is still watertight as well.

It takes a little more work, but there’s no reasons the largest windows in your home can’t benefit from window tinting like all the rest. If you need any kind of window tinting done, call Formula One by AES today at 405-513-6400!

Why you should get window tinting for your business

Window Tinting is one of the best investment you can make

When your running a business, you want to make sure every decision is best for business and it’s not always easy to tell what’s a good investment. Well, Formula One by AES is here to talk about an investment you don’t need to think about. Window tinting can reduce your energy cost, give you office some privacy, and improve the overall atmosphere of your office.

The biggest reason you would want to get window tinting done in your office is to save money on energy. Window Tints will save energy by reducing the amount of heat from the sun that gets into your business. Window Tinting will often pay for itself in a little as 2 years and at most 5. And after that, it will continue to provide you with energy savings long into the future of your business.

If you own a business that sells products in a store front, your savings may be even greater. Window Tinting works by cutting down the amount of UV light that’s let in. This means all your products are exposed to less UV light, making many products last much longer. Perfect for a furniture store. Warehouses also benefit from this reduction in harmful UV rays.

Tinting can also help in other ways. If you’ve got a conference room, window tinting can make a much more comfortable atmosphere for you and the people your meeting with. When is the best time for Window Tinting?

When’s the best time to get your windows tinted?

So you want to get the windows tinted on your car or home? Great! It has alot of great benefits. But when is the best time to get your window tinting done? Formula One By AES is here to let you know the best time to get your windows tinted.

Obviously, you don’t want it to be to hot or cold when you get your window tinting done. Heat can cause air bubbles when your installing the film. If it’s too cold, it will take longer to cure the film to the window. Summer and Winter are not good times to get a window tinting done. In winter, you may not even be able get any tinting done because it’s simply too cold. If you go to a shop that doesn’t have an interior facility these problems are compounded. Does this mean it’s impossible to get window tinting done during these seasons? No. If you go somewhere that has a climate controlled facility many of these problems can be alleviated. But these are factors that need to be considered if you can’t wait to have your window’s tinted. And obviously, if your getting the windows of a commercial or residential home tinted you’ll want to wait for the ideal time to ensure the window tinting goes down properly.

Since Winter and Summer are bad seasons to tint, fall and spring are the best seasons to tint. The combination of moderate temperatures and low humidity means the film will have the easiest time bonding to you windshield or window. In some places, the rainy spring season and hotter fall seasons can still cause problems but in general these are the best times to tint and shouldn’t cause any problems if installed on a mild day.

Types of Auto Window Tinting Pt. 2

More types of Auto Window Tinting

Formula One by AES has a couple of other window tints you may want to consider when getting the windows tinted on your car. We’ve already covered 2 options in last week’s blog, but here are 2 more options you may want to consider when getting window tints done on your car.

Hybrid Window Tinting: As the name suggests, this style of window tinting is designed to give you the benefits of Metalized and Dyed window tints, but none of the disadvantages. It consists of a sticky under-layer with a dyed and metalized layer on top with a protective layer on top of all of it. And it mostly accomplishes what is sets out to do. It blocks UV light and cuts down on glare from the sun. It doesn’t interfere with radio and cell phone waves like Metalized layers can. It’s at reduced risk of fading because of the metal layer. It also reflects heat very effectively. The only real downside is that it is more expensive than getting a dyed layer. Although it should be noted that this type of window tinting is often less expensive than getting a full Metalized window tinting.

Ceramic Film: The last kind of window tinting is Ceramic film tinting. As the name suggests, a thin layer of ceramic is layered between a sticky underlayer and a protective top layer much like the dyed window tinting. Ceramic tints allow for radio waves to pass through while also reflecting back heat and UV rays. They can cut down the glare from the sun and aren’t prone to fading like dyed tints. They are also far less reflective than metal tints meaning the window tinting will have that matte look most people are looking for. Cermic is however, the most expensive option. But it might just be worth it.

Those are the main kinds of window tints you’ll run into when deciding on how to tint your car’s windows. If you need any kind of tinting, give Formula One by AES a call today at 405-513-6400.

Types of Auto Window Tinting Pt. 1

The different types of Auto Window Tinting

Getting the windows tinted on your car can be a wise investment. Tinting your windows can cut the glare from the sun, making driving easier and saving your eyes alot of strain. They can also protect you and your car’s interior from damaging UV radiation from the Sun. But once you start getting in to deciding how dark of a tint you want you may start to realize that there are different kinds of window tinting. So which one do you pick? Formula One By AES is here to help you decide. Here are the different kinds of window tinting:

Dyed Window Film: This type of film is made of a dye pressed between a sticky bottom layer and a protective top layer. This type of tends to look really good and it doesn’t block radio waves. It’s also the most cost-effective type of window tinting. But, it can have problems if not installed properly and the layers can separate over time. Also, the sun can eventually break down the tint, changing it from black to a deep purple.

Matelized Window Film: This type of window tinting is made of several layers of adhesive and film. It’s very effective at blocking sunlight, blocking all but 10 to 40% of light. It’s also good for reducing heat as one of the layers is designed to reflect heat away from the car. Which also means this type of film is great for blocking UV rays. It’s extremely durable and doesn’t fade over time. However it is more expensive and it can block radio waves ( a problem for in-care antennas). It’s also very shiny, which is not a look most like when tinting.

These are just some of the window tinting types for your auto. Join Formula One by AES next week for more window tinting types! And if you need and kind of Window Tinting, protective or decorative, call Formula One by AES today at 405-513-6400!
