Window Tinting: Decorative Tinting for Large Logos

Using decorative window tinting to help sell your business

Window tinting isn’t just for exterior windows and autos anymore. Window tinting has a large number of applications that can be used by any kind of business. One type of project that FormulaOne By AES really enjoys doing is creating custom artwork for companies to match their branding. Our decorative designs can be used on more than outside windows as well. In fact, our decorative projects are most often used in places like conference rooms, lobbies, educational institutions, and accent walls in offices.

One example of our custom work was for the OU School of Law. At the beginning of this particular project we started out with the school’s logo. Our team got to work ensuring that this decorative tinting would look amazing and fit just right! We spent many hours re-creating the logo onto film and vinyl so we could apply it to the window they needed.

In the end, the staff at the OU School of  Law was so pleased with the final product of the decorative tinting that they put it in a commercial about their new area in the library. Throughout the commercial you’ll see several shots of the Lumar Window Film in White Frost with black vinyl. This wasn’t the only wall we did though, there was another wall covered with a decorative logo which we did in Oracal Red. To see the commercial, click here.

Large window tinting projects?

Window Tinting for large windows?

You want to get some window tinting done for all the windows in your home? Great! Window Tinting is one of the soundest and longest lasting investments you can make for your home. Not all windows are made the same though, and you might have a large window or glass sliding door. You might be wondering if the increased size will be a problem for the installers. Formula One by AES has the answers when it comes to big window projects.

First off, you can absolutely put tinting on a larger window. Size isn’t an issue when determining if window tinting would be a good idea. There are a few more steps to getting the tinting right on a larger window though.

Firstly, it usually requires the help of another person as the film is much too large for one person to handle effectively. Larger windows also need to be seamed, two films overlapping, because of the larger size. All the steps normally taken to apply a film to a window are also more laborious because of the size. It’s doubly important to make sure no air bubbles and leaks are present on larger windows because of the extra material and steps needed. It shouldn’t take much longer than a standard window though, especially when the job is being handled by trained professionals. Larger window tinting jobs can be more vulnerable to water as well, so special care needs to be placed on making sure it’s watertight. It’s a good idea to come back in about a week to make sure the window tinting is still watertight as well.

It takes a little more work, but there’s no reasons the largest windows in your home can’t benefit from window tinting like all the rest. If you need any kind of window tinting done, call Formula One by AES today at 405-513-6400!

When is Auto Window Tinting Illegal?

So you want to tint your Auto’s windows, how dark can you go?

Tinting the windows on your auto can have many benefits. It can reduce the glare from the sun and reduce the heat that comes into your car. Some people also like the cool look it gives you. But beware, it might be illegal. It’s common knowledge that window tinting above a certain level is illegal, but the point where it’s actually illegal can get muddled. So, how dark can you go with your Window Tinting? Formula One by AES has a few answers.

It’s important to know that if your trying to tint your windows for the UV and heat-reduction benefits, most modern cars already have this kind of tinting on their windshields. So there’s no need to get any kind of tinting done if you’ve got a fairly new vehicle. Also, most professional installers, like Formula One, are aware of laws regarding tinting and can generally help you avoid any trouble with the law.

What makes window tinting so complicated is that the level of tint accepted is often a matter of the state you in. For instance, you can have darker tints in Arizona where the hot desert sun is than in Michigan where the sun is less extreme. Most laws center around the amount of light that is let into the vehicle. Reflective or Opaque tints are almost never accepted. The main point is that window tinting often makes it harder to see who’s in the vehicle.

If your unsure that the window tinting you have is legal or not, there are ways to check and make sure. You can take you vehicle to a state inspector or licensed professional to make sure your tinting is within state laws.

Types of Auto Window Tinting Pt. 2

More types of Auto Window Tinting

Formula One by AES has a couple of other window tints you may want to consider when getting the windows tinted on your car. We’ve already covered 2 options in last week’s blog, but here are 2 more options you may want to consider when getting window tints done on your car.

Hybrid Window Tinting: As the name suggests, this style of window tinting is designed to give you the benefits of Metalized and Dyed window tints, but none of the disadvantages. It consists of a sticky under-layer with a dyed and metalized layer on top with a protective layer on top of all of it. And it mostly accomplishes what is sets out to do. It blocks UV light and cuts down on glare from the sun. It doesn’t interfere with radio and cell phone waves like Metalized layers can. It’s at reduced risk of fading because of the metal layer. It also reflects heat very effectively. The only real downside is that it is more expensive than getting a dyed layer. Although it should be noted that this type of window tinting is often less expensive than getting a full Metalized window tinting.

Ceramic Film: The last kind of window tinting is Ceramic film tinting. As the name suggests, a thin layer of ceramic is layered between a sticky underlayer and a protective top layer much like the dyed window tinting. Ceramic tints allow for radio waves to pass through while also reflecting back heat and UV rays. They can cut down the glare from the sun and aren’t prone to fading like dyed tints. They are also far less reflective than metal tints meaning the window tinting will have that matte look most people are looking for. Cermic is however, the most expensive option. But it might just be worth it.

Those are the main kinds of window tints you’ll run into when deciding on how to tint your car’s windows. If you need any kind of tinting, give Formula One by AES a call today at 405-513-6400.

Window Tinting as a safety measure?

Window Tinting can help cool your home but could it also protect you in other ways?

Well, in a way, yes. Window tints and film mostly help protect you by strengthening the glass panes and reducing the chances of shattering. Window tinting and films are applied by stretching it over the windows themselves. This lets professionals install window tints and films without having to remove or replace glass panes but it also has the secondary benefit of giving the window another layer of strength.  In addition, the film also helps protect against shattering by acting as a net to catch the shards. The glass may crack, but it’s far less likely to shatter and send glass shards at you and your family.

Additional Privacy

A vehicle with tinted windows is harder to look into, some people like the privacy that gives them as well as how it hides any valuables they keep in there car. The same idea goes for window tinting in your home. If a thief can’t see into your home, they’ll be less likely to break in. Additionally, because the window tinting will strengthen your windows it’ll be that much harder for a thief to break in.

Extra protection from storms

Raging storms are a scary thought. Storms like to throw debris around. During one of these storms the risk of shattering windows is high. Window tinting provides additional protection by not only strengthening your homes windows but by also preventing shattering. The window tinting can catch the cracked glass and keep it from spilling into your home with the rain and wind. Storms are scary enough, don’t add the extra stress of worrying about shattered glass in your home.

Window tinting and film are a solid investment in more ways than just saving energy. Give Formula One by AES a call today at 405-513-6400!
